No. A character’s psychological need is something the hero needs to change within himself that stops him hurting himself. His moral need is something he needs to change in himself to stop him hurting the world around him, i.e his family, friends, society or even the world.
I’ve read Truby’s book already. Even sell it on my sites. My point is it’s possible to have a character that doesn’t have a psychological need. Never said they didn’t have a moral one. Otherwise, there’s no story.
OK< so if your characters have a moral need they still need to change something about themselves, that something that will stop them hurting others…No ?
Aren’t they the same thing?

Read Anatomy of Story for a more complex, detailed analysis. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

My heroes don’t need to change anything about themselves. Therefore, they don’t have the psychological need you state.

What about a moral need? Or are they perfect beings – not hurting themselves or others ? Who are you writing about exactly?
